Sun dried in Korea, its coarse flakes have a bright, medium heat with a sweet edge and just a hint of smoke. Gochugaru is a versatile crushed chile to add a dash of heat and bright flavor to any dish.
Gochugaru is a signature ingredient in many Korean dishes, with a bright flavor profile and medium heat. Ours is sun-dried in Korea, and coarse-ground into flakes for versatility in many dishes.
Gochugaru is the traditional chile used to make kimchi, gochujang, Korean soups and stews, pickled vegetables and many other dishes.
Ideas for cooking with Gochugaru:
Make traditional dishes such as kimchi, bulgogi or cucumber salad
Use it in place of red pepper flakes to add flavor along with medium heat
Use with a combination of vinegar, water and aromatics to pickle vegetables
Add to creamy or brothy soups, like chicken, potato, corn or mushroom, for a little heat and a dash of color
Sprinkle over grilled or roasted fish, meat or vegetables
