It’s hot! You don’t want to cook. You don’t even want to grill. You just want something cold to magically appear before you, ready to be consumed.
I can’t help you with the magic part (sorry). But I can help you with the part where you don’t have to cook! Here are 16 recipes you can make start-to-finish without a smidge of heat.
So wipe the sweat from your brow and make some magic happen.
A Chill Breakfast
Start your day the cool way - by not cooking! Here are a couple of my fave ideas:
Keep Your Cool through Lunch and Dinner
Your coolest cooking move in sweltering weather is to not cook.
Go for a Dip
Some dips to nibble poolside.
Ice, Ice Baby
Chill with an icy dessert made from everyone’s favorite summer fruit.
My Fave spices to not-cook with:
Flavors can be a bit muted when food is served cold or at room temperature, so you want to be sure your spices are on point. Here are some of my go-tos for non-cooking in hot weather:
Organic Sumac and Sage Seasoning - My spice blend for just about everything savory! Perfect for salads, sprinkle over cucumbers, spice up your sandwiches, and so much more.
Pragati Turmeric - Our single-origin heirloom Pragati turmeric from our partners at Diaspora Co is rich and flavorful. Add just a pinch to smoothies, or toss with veggies for the grill (if you’re grilling!).
Organic, Fair-Trade Black Peppercorns - Adds a flavorful little zip to just about anything. Best to keep them whole in a pepper grinder and grind them right over each dish. Then smell that gorgeous aroma.
Organic Ceylon Cinnamon - The light, bright flavor works great in warm weather. Add a pinch to smoothies and sprinkle over fresh fruit or yogurt bowls.
My foolproof method for making smoothies. Berries, yogurt and milk, plus extras if you want!
